 Jane Chapin spent her childhood in Berwick, Pennsylvania,
where she grew up sketching and painting the people and
landscapes that surrounded her. 
A year as a foreign exchange student in Argentina broadened
her surroundings and began a lifelong love of travel. She
returned to her home state to study  Fine Arts and Art
Education at Kutztown University, and received her BS in Art
Education in 1978. She then followed her love of art and
travel to El Salvador, where she worked as an art teaching
volunteer in the Peace Corps, further reinforcing her
connection with the richness & diversity of her visual
surroundings.
In addition to her Peace Corps experience, she has taught art
in public and private schools in Pennsylvania, Maine and
Florida.
Chapin is currently in a mobile painting studio on a yearlong trip
around the US, but maintains a permanent address in Florida and Pennsylvania
She is a member of the Oil Painters of America,
National Association of Women Artists, Laguna Beach Plein Air Painters,
Plein Air New Mexico, Tampa Bay Plein Air Painters, St. Petersburg Plein Air League, and the
Group of Eight. Her figure drawings are published in
"A Body of  Work: Tampa Bay Artists Interpret the Figure." Her
paintings are in numerous private collections. She is represented by Alla Prima Fine Art and M Gallery of Fine Art.
